Stage 4 – Fes – Imilchil – Todgha Gorge – Boulmane Dades

  • This will be a long day, so we leave the hotel early. We will soon be riding headlong into the Atlas Mountains, passing through beautiful mountain villages until we reach our final destination and first highlight of the day: the Imilchil lakes.
At a height of about 8,000 feet, we could call this deserted Moroccan middle-Atlas plateau the “Plateau of the Fiancés”, taking its name from the two lakes that exist at the twin volcano craters, separated by a mere dozens of miles: Isli (the groom) and Tislit (the bride).
The legend goes that two young people from different tribes fell in love, but were forbidden to see each other by their families. Having already exchanged vows, the grief led them to cry themselves to death, creating the neighboring lakes.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel Xaluca Dades.

Stage 5 – Boulmane Dades – Foum-Zguid

  • Today we will have a small excursion through the palm trees of the Draa valley.
  • Foum-Zguid – We leave the high mountains further and further behind us, riding on through mountain passes and canyons of dry, red earth with the occasional green palm trees on the horizon.
The scenery is nothing short of idyllic, the landscape is grand and, as we leave the mountains and transition into the desert, we will start to feel the heat.
Foum-Zguid is the last stop before we plunge into the Sahara, the obligatory destination to all who seek adventure.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel Bab Rimal.

Stage 6 – Foum-Zguid – Chegaga Dunes – Foum-Zguid

  • The morning will be all about the desert, as we will take an all-terrain quick trip to Lake Iriki. You can expect your fair share of mirages and adrenaline as we pass through the Chegaga dunes.
  • Lunch at Chegaga, at the Ergablidia bivouac.
  • Return to Foum-Zguid and free time to enjoy the amenities at the hotel.
  • Lake Iriki – Merging into the desert landscape, it is virtually impossible to tell where the lake ends and sand begins… especially because the Iriki rarely has any water.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel Bab Rimal.

  • Leaving the hotel we head out to Marrakesh, passing through several sights, with Ait Benhaddou as the highlight.
